No one ever wants to become blind. Sight, in my opinion, is the number one everybody takes for granted. They don’t really think about the little things that matter that are right in front of them until they gradually start to lose vision, lose it it an accident or is constantly with a loved one enough to value their sight more.
I’ve had this question asked again and again in the past, sometimes I would have an answer, sometimes not. On my other blogsite, www.xanga.com/tactilejunkie, two readers asked me this question a while ago and I decided to do a vlog to answer the burning question:
When I become blind, what will I miss seeing the most?
I had listed way too many things but decided that I would choose a few and keep the others for another vlog.
Warning: I do not want pity. I do not intend to kill myself. I do not feel sorry for myself. I’m simply appreciative of the things I get to see now, and the things I used to be able to see but not anymore. They’ll always be a cherished memory and will travel with me wherever I go as a fully blind Deaf woman.
Email me if you are willing to transcribe this vlog. It’d be interesting to see if you’re able to translate this from ASL to English from a sighted person’s perspective. Hm? A challenge for you, if you may.
